Tibet Travel Permit
Tibet Travel Permit, also known as Tibet Visa or Tibet Entry Permit, is an indispensable travel pass for foreign visitors and Taiwan Residents to enter Tibet and visit Lhasa and its surroundings. If failed to obtain Tibet Travel Permit in advance, you cannot board Tibet train or flight to Lhasa.
Issued by Tibet Tourism Bureau, Tibet Travel Permit is Not a visa stamped in your passport BUT a separate travel document with two pages. The first page includes your Tibet tour operator, group number, number of group members, travel date and planned itinerary. The second page is a travel group list with group numbers’ name, date of birth, passport number, gender, nationality and occupation.
Notice: according to the relevant regulations, Tibet Tourism Bureau does not accept any individual application for Tibet Permit but submission by a registered local travel agency in Tibet.

Step1. Check Your Passport and Chinese Visa Validity
Your passport and Chinese Visa are the most basic requirements for Tibet travel. Make sure your passport has at least six months of remaining validity and blank visa pages. And Chinese Visa can be obtained at the Visa Office of Chinese Embassy/Consulate General in your country. Usually, a China tourist visa (“L” visa) will be enough. If planning to enter Tibet from Nepal, then you’ll need to apply China Group Visa through Chinese Embassy in Kathmandu.
Step2. Confirm Your Travel Itinerary and Book Tibet Tour with Us
Since Tibet Travel Permit can by only applied by the local travel agency and the entry/exit city and places you plan to visit will be all written in the permit, you need to discuss your tour route, travel date, group size, hotel standard, etc with our consultant in details.
Step3. Email Us the Required Documents
Once confirmed, you need to email us the photo image of your passport information page and Chinese Visa page and the photo of yourself. Step4. Get Your Tibet Travel Permit Before Going to Tibet
Once issued, your Tibet Travel Permit will be delivered to your address (usually your hotel) in mainland China. Since no one can take the train and flight to Lhasa without Tibet Visa, you’re suggested to begin your Tibet Travel Permit application at least 20 days before your Tibet tour starts.
